Parents truly are gifts from God. Such a gift that we are blessed with them when we first open our eyes into this world.
I was eight and a half years old when my parents had their youngest born. A baby boy. He was a very beautiful child because of which my both grandmothers feared that he might suffer from evil eye. Although born perfectly healthy, he fell sick. And at times the doctors became totally hopeless. If you ask my mother even today about his early days, she’d say “I just kept praying to God that if you have given me this gift, please do not take him away from me.” She would still cry remembering the tough times when she was at the verge of losing her child.
I still remember how she would wake all night up, taking care of him. She wouldn’t sleep for nights and wouldn’t get tired even. She says that God had given her such strength that no matter how many nights it had been, she’d remain awake, keeping a watch on the baby’s breath.
I had been a very naughty girl always. I have broken two of my bones so that explains much. And I still remember how my mother cried and fed me with her own hands when I was in seventh grade after I had broken my collar bone.
It won’t be wrong if I say that parents are the most selfless being ever created by God Almighty. They would bear the pain themselves but keep their children safe from every calamity, every such thing that could make their child’s eye full of tears.
I can’t find words honorable enough to honor the parents all over the globe. The sacrifices they are making every day for their children, for their child’s comfort can’t be expressed merely by words.
Parents’ day is must not be celebrated once out of 365 days of the year. In fact, every day is parents’ day. Parents do not demand anything huge or extravagant from us; a small act of kindness and help can bring a smile on their faces.
My mother recently lost her mother. Mom often says that “I wish I had given her more time, more love and more care.” Every day for her is a never ending of sun burning up in sky and she walking bare foot.
Before we lose the most precious gift God has ever given us, let’s cherish them every second of our lives, let’s celebrate parents’ day every day.
James Faust said,
To be a good father and mother requires that the parents defer many of their own needs and desires in favor of the needs of their children. As a consequence of this sacrifice, conscientious parents develop a nobility of character and learn to put into practice the selfless truths taught by the Savior Himself
No matter what we do, we still wouldn’t be able to return the sacrifices our parents made for us.
May God bless our parents with health, wealth, happiness and success in this world and the life hereafter. Amen.
